Elizabeth Ann Niebauer, SSJ

Elizabeth Ann Niebauer, SSJ, entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from Blessed Sacrament parish in Erie.  In her most recent ministry, she served as an Accounting Associate at the Barber National Institute from 2001 – 2014.  Her earlier ministries included teaching at St. Andrew School, Holy Rosary School in Erie and Johnsonburg, Villa Maria Elementary, St. Francis School in Clearfield, St. Joseph School, Erie and St. Bernard School in Bradford where she also served as principal. She was Supervisor of Accounts Receivable at Spencer Hospital in Meadville, and an instructor at Villa Maria College.  Her ministry career also included work as a staff accountant at area firms. She was assistant professor at Villa Maria College, and assistant professor at Mercyhurst College. At Saint Mary’s Home of Erie, she worked in Accounts Payable and as vice president of Fiscal Services. Sister Elizabeth Ann earned a BS in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College, and an MBA Business Administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati. She did additional coursework at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and Business Education courses from Marywood College in Scranton. She received CPA certification from the State of Pennsylvania. Sister Elizabeth Ann is also an accomplished watercolor artist. She did not seriously consider religious life until the year after high school while working as a legal secretary. She kept thinking:  “Is this all there is to life?”  There has to be more meaning. Another influence on her vocation was being in the Sodality during high school which gave young women a chance to be connected with the parish.
