Joseph Marie Fitzgerald, SSJ

Joseph Marie Fitzgerald, SSJ, entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from St. Peter Cathedral in Erie. Since 2003, she has ministered as Resident Supervisor at Saint Mary’s Home of Erie, East. She is being recognized this month for 15 years of service at Saint Mary’s Employee Service Award Recognition Dinner.  Her earlier ministries included teaching at St. John School, Our Lady of Peace, St. Brigid School, Meadville and Holy Rosary in Erie where she also served as principal; and at St. Bernard, Bradford and Villa Maria Elementary school. She served at Villa Maria College in numerous capacities including Assistant Dean of Students, Guidance Office, and Dean of Students and as Convent Superior.  She served her congregation in Formation ministries and as Assistant Community Superior.  She was Pastoral Counselor, Discharge Planner and Ethics Committee member at Metro Health Center in Erie. Sister Joseph Marie earned a BS in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College and an MA in Psychology and Student Services from Michigan State University. Sister Joseph Marie believes in manifesting her vocation to all she meets, ever keeping in mind “to serve others as Joseph served Jesus and Mary” (SSJ Constitutions).
