Mary Fromknecht, SSJ

Mary Fromknecht, SSJ, Formerly Sister Ann Raymond, entered the sisters of St. Joseph from St. John the Baptist parish in Erie. Since 2015, she has served as Executive Director of Sister Services for the sisters of St. Joseph.  Prior to that, she ministered at Saint Mary’s Home of Erie in various capacities including Assistant Administrator and Administrator at Saint Mary’s east.  She was co-founder of St. Patrick’s Haven, a ministry of which she is very passionate, and has served as its Director since 1985. Earlier ministries included many years of teaching at St. Peter Cathedral School, St. Andrew School, where she also served as Administrator, and St. Bernard, Bradford. She served as the Sisters of St. Joseph Supervisor of Schools and as administrator at St. John the Baptist School. and pastoral minister at St. John the Baptist Parish. She was a counselor at the Wholistic Health Center in Hindsdale, IL and a counselor in the REAP program at Villa Maria College. She served as Parish Social Minister at St. Patrick Parish in Erie, Peace & Justice/Respect Life Director for the Diocese of Erie and President of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania.  Sister Mary earned a BS in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College and a MS in Guidance/Counseling from Gannon University. She also received a MTM in Scripture and Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University and a Nursing Home Administrator License form Slippery Rock University. Sister Mary cites John 21 as a favorite scripture and source of inspiration that speaks to her of Jesus’ mandate of service to the ‘dear neighbor’.
