Find and Contact a Sister
Are you looking to connect or re-connect with one of our Sisters? If so, this is the right place!
Search by Sisters’s name, and don’t worry if you don’t know her last name — this is searchable by first name. Did you know that after Vatican II, many sisters returned to using their birth names rather than the religious names they were given when they entered the congregation? We’ve included current and former names to make your search easier. Just search by the name you remember.
Feel free to click the Get In Touch link to send a message a Sister. If that Sister is deceased, but you want to make an inquiry, send an email to ssjnews@ssjerie.org. (Please note: messages sent to sisters via the website may not be private — please do not include personal or confidential information.)

Ann Marie Joint, SSJ
SisterBiography
Former Religious Name: Sister John Patrick
Home Parish: St. Ann, Erie, PA
Sister Ann Marie Joint, SSJ, entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from St. Ann Parish in Erie on August 27, 1959, and professed her final vows on August 15, 1967.
Sister Ann Marie’s call to a religious vocation came at an early age, during 7th and 8th grade, but she tried to ignore it. She thought about it again during her junior and senior years of high school, impressed with the joy she saw in her teachers at both St. Ann School and Villa Maria Academy. She has also been guided by the faith of many people over the years, including her mother and Msgr. Wilfrid Nash, whom she met while a student at Villa Maria Academy.
After graduating from Villa Maria Academy, Sister Ann Marie earned a BS in Elementary Education from Villa Maria College, Erie, in 1969. She later studied elementary and secondary education at Edinboro University, earning an MS in Secondary Math Education.
Sister Ann Marie’s ministry in education made her a beloved teacher at several schools in the Erie Diocese. She taught at Blessed Sacrament School, Our Lady’s Christian School, and Sacred Heart School, all in Erie. She served as principal at St. Patrick School, Sacred Heart School, and Villa Maria Academy in Erie. She later became a longtime teacher at Villa Maria Elementary School in Erie.
A favorite spiritual reference, befitting for a math teacher is, “God is a circumference without a diameter. God is an unconditional lover of all persons.”
