Vatican II

In 1962, during Mother Aurelia’s term, the Second Vatican Council opened. This was a pivotal time in the Church’s history with monumental implications for religious congregations.  Vatican II called for a renewal of religious life that included a return to the Gospel, a return to the original inspiration of congregations’ founders, and greater awareness of the signs of the times. Religious congregations were encouraged to research their roots to ensure they lived according to the founder’s intent.
