 It was during a high school vocational talk when Sr. Stephanie heard that God may be calling her. She discerned this thought for about a year and a half, and then realized she was being called to a life of religious service. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from her home parish, Immaculate Conception in Johnstown, PA, in 1951, and professed her final vows in 1956.

She attended Catholic High School in Johnstown, PA, and graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. Additionally, she earned a Master of Science in mathematics from Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA, and studied Gerontology at Gannon University in Erie.

Sister Stephanie taught at St. Andrew, Villa Maria Elementary, Sacred Heart, St. John, St. Peter Cathedral, and Blessed Sacrament Schools in Erie. She also taught at Holy Rosary School in Johnsonburg and St. Bernard School in Bradford, PA. Additionally, she served as a housemother at St. Joseph Home for Children in Erie. Furthermore, she worked as a Diocesan consultant at the Mercer County Catechetical Center and Holy Rosary parish in Erie, offering religious education programs for students with hearing impairments and those with special educational needs. She served her congregation as coordinator of Rosary Hall infirmary and Director of Marycrest. She served as a volunteer, visitor, and Eucharistic minister at Saint Mary’s at Asbury Ridge and as a volunteer visitor for St. Andrew Parish in Erie.
