Nancy Fischer, SSJ entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from St. John the Baptist parish in Erie. She currently ministers as the Director of the Office of Religious for the Erie Diocese, as well as Director for small communities and lay ministry training. Prior to that, she was a school social worker and family minister at sacred Heart parish. Her earlier ministries included serving as the Director RENEW and teaching at Villa Maria Elementary, St. Andrew, Sacred Heart and St John schools in Erie. She was also a home school visitor for the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit. Sister Nancy graduated from Villa Maria College and LaSalle University. Sister Nancy was honored as a Serra Club Woman Religious of the Year and she serves on the boards of the North American forum for small communities and the National Alliance of parishes restructuring into small communities. Sr. Nancy’s passion is the building of community among members of the church. She believes that everyone is entitled, by baptism, to be supported in living out their faith.
