interested in becoming an SSJ associate?

The Sisters of St. Joseph will offer an informal information session for anyone interested in becoming an associate of the Congregation.  The session will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sisters of St. Joseph Community Living Center, 5031 West Ridge Road in Millcreek.

SSJ Associates are Christian women and men who come together to share the nature and spirit of the Sisters of St. Joseph.  Associate candidates are required to complete a year of preparation and instruction about the charism, history, spirit and spirituality of the sisters before they are welcomed into the program and asked to make a non-vowed commitment, which is renewed annually.  Through associates, the Congregation is able to share its nature and spirituality to people beyond its vowed members.  The associates share faith, prayer, and various aspects of communal living and ministry with the Sisters. The foundation for associates has its roots in the primitive constitutions of the Sisters of St. Joseph in seventeenth century France.

Associate membership is open to all Christian men and women, regardless of age, marital status, or vocation.  Associates focus on ministries that are part of their own daily lives; many are involved as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, social workers and volunteers helping the poor and homeless.

Presently, there are more than 220 SSJ Associates of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

All interested persons are welcome to attend.  Please direct replies or inquiries to Linda Kuhn or Nancy Donnelly at (814) 836-4134 or email associates@ssjerie.org
