The thought of a religious vocation came to Sister Ann Marie Joint, SSJ, at an early age, she recalls, having considered it as early as during 7th and 8th grade, though admittedly, she tried to ignore it. She was impressed with the joy she saw in her teachers at St. Ann School and Villa Maria Academy in Erie and again found herself considering a vocation in her junior and senior year of high school. She attended Villa Maria College and Edinboro University and ultimately, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from St. Ann parish. Sister Ann Marie says she has been guided by the faith of a number of people over the years including her mother who was always in service to the neighbor, and she was impressed with Msgr. Wilfrid Nash’s spirituality. A longtime teacher and principal at many schools in the Erie Diocese, Sister Ann Marie taught at Villa Maria Elementary School from 2004 – until the school closed in 2017. She currently teaches at St. George School in Erie.
