Recycling Made Simple – Virtual Event

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania are sponsoring a virtual recycling education event to help the community learn more about recycling in the Erie County area.

A great deal of confusion exists about recycling, and residents are often left wondering: What is recyclable? What isn’t? Do I have to clean items first? Do I have to separate items? Why is something recyclable in one area but not in another? What happens to my recycled materials?  Doesn’t everything just end up in the landfill? Why is recycling so complicated?

This virtual event brings together a panel of local experts who will help answer these and other questions. The presenters include Jessica Stutzman, Millcreek Township Sustainability Coordinator; Lynn Armel, Erie County Sustainability Coordinator; Sarah Peelman, City of Erie Sustainability Coordinator; Terri Fischer, Waste Management Public Sector Representative; and  Ed Yahner, Advanced Disposal General Manager. Betsy Wiest, Sisters of Social Justice Coordinator, will facilitate the presentation.
