Meet SSJ Associate Margaret Chrymko

Margaret Chrymko is a native of the Buffalo, NY area. She became an associate in 1991 with Sister Susan Herzing as her mentor. Margaret received BS and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the  State University of New York at Buffalo. In 1998, she accepted a position at Hamot Medical Center and relocated to Erie. Twelve years later she began working at Erie’s VA Medical Center and was instrumental in starting its postgraduate pharmacy residency training program. She retired in 2019 but continues to volunteer on a national advisory board to assist directors of similar programs. In 1999, she completed the Shalem Spiritual Guidance program and, in 2001, she received an MA degree in Pastoral Studies from Gannon University. She is a member of the SSJ Retreat Team and she treasures the gift of her ministry as a spiritual director/companion. She enjoys walking, cooking, learning, and reading, particularly items that promote spiritual growth and reflection. Margaret has one sister in the Buffalo area and visits her often. A quote from Henri Nouwen gives her perspective and patience.
“… our interruptions are in fact our opportunities …”
